You could have a hypothesis and prove or disprove something or investigate something that is language related. Other examples may include analysing song lyrics, the way a character is portrayed in a book or how children learn to spell.

Examples could be around language change through advertisements, recipes, policies or 'do women gossip more than men? There will be a requirement to write a media text , which is an offshoot of the investigation but based on the content of the investigation.

any ideas Just a quick suggestion of maybe what you want to look at if you are going to do an investigation into msn conversations.

You would probably be looking at the discourse framwork, because despite it being written language, many people write as they would talk.

The word count is so small that I would have to cut a point to fit one in that would actually have meaning and not just summarise the points I've already made... The range of texts could include stories, advertisements, menus, contracts, speeches, plays or even food labels and much more.

One of the two AS examination questions will require you to analyse six or seven small texts and categorise them according to areas such as grammar, semantics, graphology, discourse, lexis, context, pragmatics, phonology, genre, audience and other appropriate headings such as humour.

I think you'd need to come up with a bit of a definition of what you mean by 'hardcore' singers. I've decided on my original idea, few people have sorta 'sold' the idea to me.

Okay so if i want to analyse the language used in the lyrics of deathcore bands or the language and phonological features what would i discuss?
